appears on Them Crooked Vultures (2009)
Them Crooked Vultures (hereafter referred to as TCV because I’m not writing it out every time) are ridiculous, a vestige of a musical institution that’s all but died out - the Supergroup, and it’s one that lives up to its name. The band features Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, and John Paul Jones at lead vocals and guitar, drums, and, to quote Josh, “every other instrument known to man,” but mostly bass, respectively. Just in case anyone’s unfamiliar, Josh is best known for Queens of the Stone Age, Dave for either Nirvana or Foo Fighters, depending who you ask, and John Paul Jones for Led Zeppelin. Like, I honestly don’t know what else you could possibly ask for, though I should also mention the involvement of Alain Johannes, who’s credited for his work on guitars, slide guitar, bass, keyboards, and backing vocals.
Sadly, TCV have only released one album, but members have expressed a desire to work together again. No One Loves Me and Neither Do I is a slow burn track, building up piece by piece, and it all crashes over you in the second half, with a total change in the song’s tone.
We’ve had first breakdown, yes, but what about second breakdown? The song’s brooding and mean and intense, and I highly recommend just losing yourself in it and headbanging your little heart out.
