We also do the occasional article now as well dont-ch-ya-know!
Normally when we talk about the men in grey here at Rock Song of the Week, itâs because weâre hiding behind the curtains from the tax man. Itâs not entirely our fault - vinyl records are expensive, you know? And you wouldnât believe the amount that a shopping trolley full of hair conditioner comes to these days, either.
One âdefinitely a joke for legal purposesâ segment aside, our actual Men In Grey this week come from the mouths and hands of The Hellfreaks. If youâve heard some earlier work by Hungarian punk troupe, you arenât wrong in thinking that something has changed a bit. Back in 2009 when the band hit the scene, their psychobilly sound was their identifier; all the fast-paced fun of punk, but with a double bass and a twang. These days it has shifted yet again, away from their second phase of dark, horror metal focus with a skate punk fringe â like adding trumpet sound effects to a haunted house, but good? â to a much more straight-line punk affair. It keeps that riotously catchy edge, though, that has been maturing for the last decade-plus, so you know itâs still them at a hundred paces. If you require something breaking and sounding great while doing it, thereâs never been a better time to ask them.
With that in mind, this Rock Song of the Week pick is a mandatory âget up and danceâ number. We donât want there to be a single person standing/sitting still during this one, so if youâd be so kind as to put on your biggest party boots and stomp your way to the weekend then we would consider that crossed off of our big to-do checklist. The only other thing on there? Paying our taxes Having a great time and being right back here next week!
If you like what you hear, please consider purchasing via Bandcamp if the option is available as this is usually the best way to support the artist.
