No, it’s not Deadly Sinners, come back! Yes, this week’s band 3 Inches of Blood may well be known primarily for that popular song from their second album, but what you may not know is that they’ve got lots of other songs too! And they’re really good!
Formed in Victoria, Canada in the dark days of 1999, 3 Inches of Blood started out as a more power metal leaning band with decidedly new wave of British Heavy Metal inspiration. They didn’t stray too far from those roots and their third album, produced by Joey Jordison (of Slipknot drumming fame) is a love letter to those 80’s pioneers through and through, with enough fantastical power metal elements to make a Dungeons and Dragons player wet himself with excitement.
The song I’ve picked from the carousel of distorted guitars and screaming vocals this week is The Hydra’s Teeth, the first metal song I got funny looks from people for listening to in public. It’s got a place in my heart just for that, but it’s a great song too. Crank this one up!
