The Warning - CHOKE

Hear ye, hear ye! Rock Song of the Week is back once again, same place and (roughly) same time and we have a doozy for you. Not that we’re ever in the business of not bringing you doozies, let me be clear. Our standards for music are higher than most – though any given conversation about 80s metal after a few drinks might change public opinion on that. Hair metal just gets a bad rap, you know? 

On quite possibly the literal opposite end of the scale from hair metal, we have the band meeting our usual lofty standards this week in The Warning, a Mexican three-piece made up of the Villarreal Vélez sisters. While the idea of some family bands can feel a little gimmicky, The Warning are anything but - for as short a time as they’ve been blowing eardrums apart, the band are an incredibly accomplished trio with plenty of full lengths and touring under their belt. It’s all quality stuff, too – definitely check out the full Error album off the back of this Rock Song of the Week pick if you have the time!

Onto our highly esteemed pick itself, then; CHOKE is an absolute smasher of an anthem from the maidens of The Warning, here to rattle your windows and put cracks in your foundations. It’s not real music if it doesn’t require some amount of reparative work to yourself or your surroundings when the track ends, after all.
