Sometimes, you stumble across a band that causes an itch. Not 80s Mötley Crüe - a different kind of itch; I’ve heard the egg roll story. No, it’s that sort of itch that goes in through your ear and then wiggles around on the surface of your brain, usually accompanied by highly colourful lyrics about dragons and wizards … oh no, it’s "Power Metal Eddie", he’s heard us. Quick, let’s go before he starts -

Would you look at the time, it’s power metal o’clock! You ever heard of Lost Horizon? Good job I’m here to introduce you; everyone seems to have cleared out of the office for some reason. All the more room for me to make sure you’re up to speed. Or, at least, what there is to know, given the Swedish spell slingers weren’t exactly prolific. Two studio albums in their six officially “active” years is a dishearteningly low output on the evidence of their quality, frankly. But both had the caveat of both being steel on steel bangers, however, making them one of the more underrated bands to have donned their cloaks in the name of sword and sorcery.

Good luck finding much to go on with regards to the band currently, also. After they split in 2005 and their subsequent reformation in 2009, information about what they’re up to is thinner on the ground than the bad guy in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Still, as far as lasting, cheese-heavy legacies go, these lads have got more legs than cheddar. Sworn In The Metal Wind is good, clean and absolutely infectious fun, the sort of thing you can write a real Rock Song of the Week pick article about; none of this nonsense about down-tuning or tracks that don’t have anything to do with a prophecy. Now, with that said, it’s time to go find everyone else. It’s been at least fifteen seconds since I told them more about how our Lord and Saviour Luca Turilli considers metalcore the original sin.

If you like what you hear, please consider purchasing via Bandcamp if the option is available as this is usually the best way to support the artist.
