Blindside - Caught a Glimpse

appears on Silence (2002)

We’ve got one for the purists here, folks. If you’ve never heard of Blindside – and the odds aren’t long that’s the case – then consider this your long overdue introduction. Yes, we’re always making sure every single base is covered here at Rock Song of the Week. Even if it makes the boss man want to throw his laptop out of the window when I suggest a progressive rock track for the tenth week in a row.

My inevitable and deserved pink slip aside, let’s get down to Blindside-related business. The Swedish four piece have been knocking around since 1994 and, after a quick name change from Underfree (a good change, if you ask me), the band launched straight into making waves in the Christian rock and metal scene. If you’re being endorsed by P.O.D in that particular environment, then you’re doing something right! They’ve been active bar a brief hiatus ever since; they recently released a new single in Dead Weight, so if you like what you’re hearing here today, rest assured they’re still at it.

Depending on your tastes, Blindside might be one of the better bands you’ve never heard of – and Caught a Glimpse, our tasty-as-always Rock Song of the Week pick, your new favourite song you’ve only just discovered. It’s broody, it’s punchy and it is a damn good track with plenty of grungy replayability. By way of thanks, we ask that you come back next week for more great music – but cheques made payable to cash work too. Or made payable directly to Jack Daniels, as well. Might as well cut out the middleman.

If you like what you hear, please consider purchasing via Bandcamp if the option is available as this is usually the best way to support the artist.
